The Sword Songs Music Project is a collection of 40 scripture songs of various genres contained on four recordings of ten songs per album. I can trace the start of the project back to a visit I made to The Toronto Airport Church in 1994 and a Morningstar Worship Conference in 1996. During the conference, I was profoundly moved when Don Potter and Leonard Jones sang Scriptures in a powerful and purposeful manner using a free-flowing modern style of music. On the final evening of the conference, I went forward with a group of worship leaders, and Don prayed a blessing and impartation over us. I attribute much of my passion for worship and for this project as fruit from that ministry time.
In1998, while reading Psalm 86:8-13 in preparation for leading worship at an upcoming event, I started to hear a song with this Scripture text as lyrics in my head. I grabbed my guitar and attempted to capture what I was hearing by playing along and jotting the verses and the chords down. This phenomenon continued to happen on a regular basis.
Over the next twelve months, I captured 30 Scripture songs during my personal quiet times. I asked the Lord what I should do with these songs. I got a very strong impression that I should record them as “Fast Food for the end times harvest.”
I pray that the words of Scripture set to music will fill you with hope, strength, comfort, and joy—that you may grab hold of them as your fast food for the end-time harvest!
For the Kingdom,
